It’s 2005 and this is my first post for the year! First official one anyway. This blog will be where I’ll be posting my latest artworks – prior to relocating them onto my portfolio site at www.joelchua.com. Besides that I’ll be posting my experiments and studies on digital coloring/painting and color theory. If you don’t know yet, I am based in the Philippines and color for comics.
Well anyway the 2004 yearend celebration was rather quiet. Compared to 2003. Fireworks ended much sooner. There wasn’t a lot of pyrotechnic debris in our garden. Goes to show that people around my place are cutting back on fireworks.
For the year of the Rooster I’ll do my best to make a stable income. A job would be the most obvious thing to look for. Comic book work doesn’t pay soon enough – and I have to contribute to my family’s bill situation. Of course that would mean suspending my studies at UP fine arts. But then again, for me that was what the second degree would be for anyway.
Also want to deepen my understanding of 3D modelling and animation. I think overall there are a lot more opportunities for 3D people than 2D people – so I want to be able to explore that field.
Then spiritually, I’m getting my mind set on what pleases God. Really simple thing when you say it, but it’s rather difficult to maintain for someone who doesn’t pray as often as he’d like to.
Financially speaking, I’ll be redeveloping my digital color workshop as well as venturing into photo enhancement restoration. Perhaps 6 months from now, I hope to be part of a corporation that will allow me to do so in a much bigger way. Then again, I could also end up in China or Korea and be teaching english.
So much to exercise this year. Very much a year of action.
