Rusty Banana Forge

When the nearby video shop closed, they had a sale of all their DVDs, VCDs, LDs, and VHS tapes. I bought Lagaan for 75 pesos. The 4 disc VCD story is my first Bollywood film.

I wasn’t disappointed with the song and dance. It was a blast! The story of an Indian village coming together to challenge the British Cantonment (a garrison) in a game of cricket to decide the fate of the entire province. Lagaan is the name of the tax the farmers pay to the Raja (who in turn has to pay the British). The deal was if the villagers won the game there would be no lagaan for 3 years, but if they lost they get taxed 3 times more.

I’ve seen Chinese, Japanese, and American movies with similar themes and feelings. And I’ve concluded that I’m a sucker for them!
