Nate Butler, representative of the COMIX35 ministry is coming over to Manila on the first week of July 2006 to review anime/manga portfolios. This is for the benefit of other ministries in the US and Japan. He’s been here before. Initial word to me is that he’ll be holding the review in Tomas Morato, Timog – in the Century Imperial Palace Suites.
The project is a series of short books that will be done to complement a larger manga project in Japan. I don’t know the details for how many pages, what particular style, color or not, deadlines, how many artists they need, or pay rate. What I know is this is a legitimate company with a ministry to use comics to reach and teach people for Christ. Of course, I think it doesn’t hurt to mention that I’ve been compensated well and on time for my work with them.
I am not in contract with the company in any way, but I will keep you all informed as a fellow artist. Tell your illustrator, animator, and artist friends. Tell them to get their anime/manga portfolios ready for July if they are interested. The more sequentials the better. I’m guessing illustrations on daily life as well as Bible times would be more memorable pieces, but that’s just me.
